What Draftoku is
A daily puzzle that puts card drafting on top of sudoku. You cannot choose the number — cards come from a deck and you only decide which cell to put the card you are holding into. So the question flips from «where does this go» to «can I place this safely, or must I throw it away».
Every move looks legal. About a third of them are traps.
The rules in short
- The daily board is 9×9, with the usual sudoku constraint on rows, columns and 3×3 boxes.
- Place one card from your hand into an empty cell — that is one turn.
- A card you cannot use can be discarded for one ⚡, without spending your turn. It returns fourth from the top of the deck, so it is deferred, not gone.
- ⚡ tokens are your shields for the day — two or three depending on the weekday. At zero, one unsafe move ends the run.
- CONTINUE undoes a fatal move for one ⚡, but caps your grade at B for the day.
- Fill the board to win; lose when nothing can be filled. An autopsy then shows which cell died and when.
Three things that help immediately
- ⚡ is a discard budget, not a stack of lives. Hoarding it while placing marginal cards is how hands die.
- A discarded card returns about four turns later. Before discarding, ask whether a home for that digit will exist by then.
- Traps detonate late. Once the board is half full, start counting how many candidates each placement removes.
Questions
Does the legal-cell hint make it easier? Less confusing, not safer. It shows what the rules permit, never whether a cell is safe — the traps live in that gap.
Can the remaining deck count reveal the answer? No. It is derived from the solved board and is identical whichever solution you head toward.
